Designing for Everyday People
Kenny Huang is a fourth-year industrial design major at OCAD University, currently based in Markham, Ontario. Taking on a particular interest in human-centric design solutions and user experience, he has a strong foundation in both the technical execution of product development as well as the critical research fundamental to early-stage concepts. Currently, his professional experience is rapidly expanding, from collaborative service projects for Cadillac Fairview to market analysis and project management for Highline Beta, he continues to engage with advancing AI technology to stay at the forefront of the product design industry.
Having worked with a range of software like the Adobe Suite and multiple CAD applications since the age of 16, he continues to broaden his digital capabilities through programs like Figma, Visual Studio Code, Stitch, and Cursor in university. With a diverse skillset and a strong ambition to push his creative boundaries, he aims to create user experiences that seamlessly merge functionality, aesthetics, and innovative technology into one.
My ultimate ambition is to improve people's daily life through design.
My Design Process
Problem Identification
Identify the problem at hand first. Without a problem, there is no solution to design for. Everything comes after this step.
Exploration & Research
Explore the previously identified problem in all its facets. The initial problem might change and early directions might pivot depending on research.
Synthesis
Fully understand what the problem is, why it matters, who is affected, where it's most relevant to, when a solution might be needed, and how to approach solving it.
Ideation
Brainstorming and generating multiple possible solutions to the problem based on prior research and mapping. Being as critical as possible during this stage to root out unfeasible solutions early on.
Prototyping & Testing
Creating mockups, maps, and other representations of the solution to test with stakeholders and users. Iterating on designs based on feedback.
Implementation
Presenting the final product and relevant research to stakeholders and users. Getting feedback to understand what could be improved further and how I could apply current learnings to future projects.
Core Skills
Research & Development
Exploring concepts, systems, and technologies to expand my knowledge across domains. (Disruptors, Emerging Trends, Human Behaviour, etc.)
AI Literacy
Understanding Generative AI tools and integrating them seamlessly into workflows. (Gemini, Claude, Antigravity, Stitch, Cursor, Hugging Face, etc.)
3D Design & Prototyping
3D modelling, rendering, and animation (Fusion360, Solidworks, Blender). 3D printing and physical prototyping (Bambu Lab, Prusa, Arduino, KiCad)
2D Design Softwares
UI/UX design workflows, creating vectors, digital layouts, and photo editing. (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva).
